U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry will arrive in Israel on Sunday, and he will update Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on developments in securing a deal for Syria to hand over its chemical weapons.
Over the weekend, Kerry will continue with talks in Geneva with his Russian counterpart Sergei Lavrov, in an attempt to confirm the Russian plan to remove Syria's chemical weapons, and avert U.S. military action.
A senior U.S. State Department official told Haaretz that Kerry's visit will deal with Syria, but also with peace talks between Israel and the Palestinians.
Kerry will meet Sunday with Netanyahu in Jerusalem and after that with Palesitnian President Mahmoud Abbas in Ramallah.
Kerry met Abbas in London last Sunday for a meeting that lasted a couple of hours.
Kerry and Lavrov said on Friday they hoped that talks on Syria's chemical weapons would help revive an international plan for a "Geneva 2" conference to end the war in Syria.
After meeting UN special envoy on Syria, Lakhdar Brahimi in Geneva, where they are trying to confirm Russia's plan, Lavrov and Kerry said they agreed to try and make progress on a broader effort to end a conflict that has divided the Middle East and world powers.
Kerry, who said the ongoing talks on chemical weapons were "constructive," told a news conference in Geneva that he and Lavrov planned to meet in New York later this month and hoped to agree a date for the Geneva 2 conference then.

Comment:

It is very unusual that US  Secretary of State has to brief Israel PM by US Secretary of state in person. Does it not indicate that Israel is the main party who was had been the initiator of the military strike?

It is now crystal clear that Israel wanted to in fact strike Iran  Primarily and thus ignite the WW III and blame the President. This is very unfortunate that just because of the lone super power the world community world is facing humiliation, it is more faithful to the terrorist state of Israel than any other better country within the community of nations.

It is not understood if it is right but then it should give up calling itself the world police, the world community of nations is fed up with notoriety of the terrorist country Israel.

If SYRIA Is being disarmed for being a threat to the neighboring countries, if this is true then what about Israel a terrorist country’s  presence itself over and above it possessing all type of WMDS in thousands of tons including Chemical Weapons. It would be appreciated if the PM of Israel reply why it should not be unarmed of all nuke arms.

Some would be given kicks and others would receive kiss on their butts cannot be the fair Justice other than a purely a double standard policy. When “We Jews control America” and members of AIPAC  can conspire to eliminate 47% American middle class and poor, then on the same logic Israel must at all cost be disarmed. As it is a threat to the US which Syria was not to that extent. Apart from it, it is considered by all other Mid East countries that Israel is a morbid threat to entire Mid East
Region. Now the Super Powers should consider and immediately disarm Israel.
